STEP 1: ENLIGHTEN YOURSELF

Watch these documentaries involving the vegan diet and its effects. You can start with “Vegucated” and “Cowspiracy.” Don’t worry, they’re not graphic.

You may come across more vegan documentaries. Go ahead and watch them as well. Watching various point of views is extremely helpful.

STEP 2: RESEARCH VEGAN SOURCES

Find local grocery stores that carry vegan products and scout out vegan-friendly menus at nearby restaurants. It’s good to familiarize yourself with your surroundings; you may be surprised what you’ll find!

STEP 3: GO SHOPPING!

Buy the following basic plant-based foods:

  • Apples

  • Oranges

  • Bananas

  • Strawberries

  • Grapes

  • Flax seeds

  • Cashews

  • Chick peas

  • Textured Vegetable Protein or Meatless Beef

  • Nafsika’s Garden vegan cheese

  • Lentils

  • Beans (preferably mixed)

  • Sunflower or Pumpkin Seeds

  • Sugar snap peas, snow peas, green peas, edamame (whichever you like)

  • Wholegrain rice

  • Quinoa

  • Leek

  • Kale

  • Spinach

  • Lettuce

  • Cabbage

  • Carrots

  • Celery

  • Onions

  • Garlic

  • Potatoes

  • Nutritional Yeast

  • Cauliflower

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)

  • Apple Cider Vinegar, Red Wine Vinegar

  • Sea Salt

  • Ground Pepper

  • Cinnamon Sticks

  • Fresh Basil

  • Fresh Parsley

Feel free to buy whatever else you like. The above are just the necessities; at least in my eyes. Remember, your goal is to cook your food at home every day from scratch, thus avoiding eating any processed foods or preservatives.

STEP 4: NOW, LET’S GET COOKING!

You may encounter some people who are not ready to follow your path to nutrition and enlightenment and that’s fine. Just don’t let everyone discourage you. The results will speak for themselves and you will feel better both inside and out.

STEP 6: MAKE FRIENDS WITH OTHER VEGANS

There are countless vegan communities around the world that you could join or follow. Go discover them and share your experiences! Finding a buddy to vegan with together is even better.
